Charming decanter with reeded pattern in cut glass, set with a faceted stopper, of the Edwardian style. Ideal for serving whisky, liqueurs as well as port and sherry; antique English circa 1910.

Condition: minor surface wear

Size: 9 cm W, 22.5 cm H.

Style note — although Edwardian period was short, lasting between 1901 and 1910, it oversaw two major styles — Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau. Traditionally, most Edwardian items, including furniture and homewares, are elegant both in design and in decoration, well constructed and very functional. Good and tasteful design was much admired during this period.

Facts of Lavish Tip — clouded surface inside an old decanter is hard to fix, it requires a vibrating machine and acid; but this is a non-issue, because when a decanter is full with liquid, the glass becomes transparent.
