View condition. Opulent and very rare wine bottle or decanter coaster for the festive table, in black papier mache with a striking gold painted floral chinoiserie decoration; antique English Georgian style and Regency period, from the 1810s.

Style notes — late Georgian period mainly refers to the early 19th century, up to 1838. The style was predominantly neo-classical, that looked back at the ancient Greece and Rome and used those elements in design and decoration. Most Georgian items have straight and very clean lines and elegant repetitive floral patterns.
