Style notes — late Georgian period mainly refers to the early 19th century, up to 1838. The style was predominantly neo-classical, that looked back at the ancient Greece and Rome and used those elements in design and decoration. Most Georgian items have straight and very clean lines and elegant repetitive floral patterns.

Facts of Lavish Fun bit — “Do you know the Bishop of Norwich?” is a traditional polite British reminder at the dinner table to pass the port. Apparently that Bishop was a rather forgetful chap.
