Classical sterling silver cocktail shaker of the Art Deco style with a golf related inscription from the Bermuda championship dated 1928, by Henry Clifford Davis; vintage English, hallmarked for Birmingham 1927. The inscription refers to Lanceray Arthur Newnham, a British army Colonel who fought in both WWI and WWII and was awarded a George Cross.

Style note — Art Deco was dominant in the 1920s, 30s and 40s. It originated in France, and is short for Arts Decoratifs, inspired by the 1925 Paris world fair “International Exposition of Modern Industrial and Decorative Arts”.
